He should not have lied.
Pete Buttigieg was recently challenged by Fox News host Chris Wallace for falsely claiming the amount of jobs Biden’s infrastructure plan would create 19 million jobs.
Wallace asked, “Why not be straight about the conditions in the U.S. to the American people?”
Buttigieg replied, “Well, the American people already know our infrastructure needs a lot of work. … The American Society of Civil Engineers rates our infrastructure. We’ve been getting a lot of Cs and Ds.”
Then Wallace played a clip of Buttigieg’s false statement and asked, “But it turns out the study you’re citing from Moody’s Analytics says the economy will add 16.3 million jobs without the infrastructure bill and 2.7 million more with it. So it doesn’t, as you said last Sunday, create 19 million jobs. Again, Secretary Buttigieg, why mislead folks?”
Buttigieg stumbled saying, “You’re right. I should have been more precise. The 19 million jobs that’ll be created are more than the jobs that will be created than if we don’t do the plan.”
Wallace silenced Buttigieg by stating, “Right. But two million. Two million, not 19 million.”
